Frugal "Smell Good"

There is nothing I love more than a house that smells good!  I have a very sensitive nose, so I have to be careful what I use as far as candle, air freshener, etc. go.  And I don't like all those weird and crazy smells.  I'm a simple gal.  My nose is so sensitive that I can smell things that most people can't.  Funky smells and all! hehe

So, in my search to have a nice smelling home I have found something that I LOVE and it's practically free!!

Wanna know what it is???

Well...........

All you need is:

Ground Cinnamon
Vanilla Extract (the cheap stuff is fine!)
Ground Cloves (Cloves can be expensive so you don't have to use them.  I got mine on sale;)
Orange Peels (if you don't have them it's ok, it will still smell great!  I have them constantly.  My boys LOVE oranges!)

Throw it all in a sauce pan...just a dash of each is all it takes.

You don't even have to stir it!  Just let it come to a boil then turn it down to a simmer.
I promise your house will smell AWESOME!!!!

I love to do this right before I have company or any kind of gathering.  People always compliment me on how great my house smells.

Be sure to come back and tell me how great it smells:)  Can't wait to hear!

  1. Maranda, My mom used this all the time when I was a kid. I had forgotten all about it...the old is made new again. Thank you for posting this.

My grandmother use to get the toilet fresheners that are suppose to hang in the toilet tank and hang them behind her livingroom curtain.

  3. This is one of my favorite holiday scents, just be sure to not forget about it on the stove like I once did. The pot is awful to clean afterward! lol

    Happy New Year 2011!
